Capsicum annuum (65 days) A favorite pickling pepper that’s exceptionally bountiful-- Pepperoncini peppers! Often found in sandwich shops, pizzerias, and salad bars. They’re sweet with a very mild heat and a crunchy texture that pairs well with a wide range of dishes. An essential ingredient of any Greek salad with lettuce, feta cheese and olives. Initially yellow-green, maturing to dark orange, then red. Heavy yields on compact plants, they’re a great option for containers and any size garden. Expect dozens of peppers each harvest. Peppers average 4′′ long with 1′′ diameter.

Growing Notes
Start in shallow flats, planting 1/4" deep about 8 weeks prior to transplanting. Peppers germinate slowly in cooler soil; if possible, maintain soil temperatures 80- 90°F. When the first true leaves appear, transplant seedlings into 2" cells or 4" pots. Keep warm at 70°F by day and 60°F at night. Transplant after danger of frost when the soil is warm and weather is steady. Plant 12-18" apart in rows 24-36" between.
