Pisum sativum (6o days, trellis) Producing an avalanche of snow pea pods, Blizzard lives up to its name. It’s in full force shortly after the snowy winter with concentrated, prolific production! And the taste— sweet, crisp, delicious, and satisfying; the best we’ve ever had! Pods average 3 inches long and are produced in pairs for fast and easy pickin’. Plants have an open canopy, so the pods are easy to find. Vigorous vines grow to 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall. Perfect for stir-fries, salads, or eating fresh off the vine.
Growing Notes
Planting Depth: 1”. Plant spacing: 2” apart; 2-3’ between rows. Sow 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date, when soil temperature is at least 40°F. Soil temp for best germ.: 50-75 °F. Emergence: 5-8 days; slower germination in colder soil temps. Full sun; tolerates partial shade. Fall sow 10 to 12 weeks before your average first frost date. Best grown in temperatures less than 85°F.
